Carrillo legacy:

The tradition of crafting guitars by the Carrillo family dates back to 1744 in “Manchuela Conquense,” also known as Casasimarro. Since the 19th century, the town earned the moniker “El pueblo de las Guitarras,” translating to “The Town of Guitars.” Vicente Carrillo, the seventh-generation luthier of the family, continues this legacy by building these instruments in the same location.

In recognition of his exceptional craftsmanship, Vicente Carrillo received the “Regional Craftsmanship Award” in 2009 and the “National Award” in 2010. His guitars are distinguished by a unique sound, achieving a harmonious balance between robust bass tones and melodic trebles. Constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation, Carrillo’s workshop employs various construction techniques, contributing to an ongoing evolution in the understanding of the art of lutherie.

Renowned artists, including Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, J.M. Cañizarez, El Niño Josele, Rafael Cañizares, Javier Limón, Keith Richards, and Josemi Carmona (Ketama), have all been associated with and played guitars crafted by Vicente Carrillo.

Vicente Carrillo’s legacy extends far beyond the instruments he meticulously crafts. Through his unwavering commitment to preserving and advancing the art of guitar making, he has become a torchbearer for Spain’s cultural heritage. Carrillo’s workshop stands not just as a physical space but as a crucible of creativity and tradition, ensuring that the legacy of fine Spanish guitar craftsmanship endures for generations to come.
