This guitar comes from the workshop of Spanish luthier Darío García, who took Third Prize at the seventh Antonio Marín Montero Guitar Making Competition held in Granada in July/August 2024. The top is spruce paired with a beautiful set of Indian rosewood for the back and sides.
The construction is light and responsive, with a springy, lively attack that places it firmly in the traditional southern Spanish school. Inside, Darío has stayed true to that tradition with a seven-fan strutting layout and a small cross reinforcement beneath the bridge. The result is a guitar that feels effortless to play: notes jump out with ease, and there’s a satisfying roundness and fullness to every tone across the entire range, from treble to bass. Anyone drawn to the warm, loose richness that a light spruce top can offer will find this instrument genuinely compelling. Beautifully crafted, and impressive in both sound and playability.
