Commissioned as a special project, this instrument is an astonishingly accurate recreation of the original Torres guitar. Every detail, from the color and texture to the patina, has been meticulously crafted, making it nearly indistinguishable from an actual antique. Carbone even replicated “fake cracks” and aged the finish to reflect the wear of a vintage instrument. The tuners have been carefully machined and aged mimicking the quirks of the original. While the guitar’s appearance might deceive even a trained eye, Carbone has clearly branded the instrument with his name inside and on the back of the headstock to ensure it cannot be mistaken for the original.
The guitar’s sound is as impressive as its visual fidelity. It offers a hauntingly authentic tone, characterized by deep, resonant basses, lyrical trebles, and a mature, open character with an unmistakable Spanish nuance. Balance, sustain, and clarity are flawlessly achieved, creating an inspiring and delightful playing experience. This instrument combines relaxed warmth with precise response, making it an exceptional concert guitar.
Built over two years in collaboration with a Milan museum curator to perfect its historical accuracy, this guitar is a rare and unique masterpiece. It represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an instrument that bridges the past and present with extraordinary artistry and sound.
