Tobias Braun was born in 1960 in Holzminden, Germany. Soon after, his family moved to Perchtoldsdorf near Vienna, Austria. In 1983 he built his first concert guitar and a year later he completed a guitar building course taught by José Romanillos. The second course took place in 1988 and the third in 1989. In the same year he completed his master’s studies in Vienna.
This guitar has a spruce top. The back and sides are made of ziricote. A special feature is the small tube inside the soundhole. Tobias Braun drew inspiration from his studies of traditional Spanish violin making. This kind of tubes can also be found in guitars made by Antonio de Torres and is intended to enhance the projection capabilities of guitars. There is no finish at the neck like at violin or chello. The guitar has many minor signs of use but no breaks nor repairs.
