The Carrillo family’s guitar-making tradition began in 1744 in “Manchuela Conquense,” now known as Casasimarro. Since the 19th century, this town has earned the nickname “El pueblo de las Guitarras,” or “The Town of Guitars.” Vicente Carrillo, a seventh-generation luthier, continues this legacy by crafting guitars in the same location.

Vicente Carrillo received the “Regional Craftsmanship Award” in 2009 and the “National Award” in 2010 in recognition of his exceptional work. His guitars are celebrated for their distinctive sound, which balances rich bass and melodic treble tones. Always at the forefront of innovation, Carrillo’s workshop incorporates various construction techniques, continually advancing the understanding of lutherie.

Internationally renowned artists such as Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, J.M. Cañizarez, El Niño Josele, Rafael Cañizares, Javier Limón, Keith Richards, and Josemi Carmona (Ketama) have all played guitars meticulously crafted by Vicente Carrillo.

Vicente Carrillo’s legacy goes beyond the instruments he creates. Through his dedication to preserving and advancing the art of guitar making, he has become a symbol of Spain’s cultural heritage. Carrillo’s workshop is more than just a place of work; it is a hub of creativity and tradition, ensuring that the excellence of Spanish guitar craftsmanship endures for future generations.
